Wine Wine Wineries- Shuswap Part 2

image

Hello friends,
Welcome back!! Over the weekend, we (hubs and I) drove for about five hours to Shuswap Lake for a family trip getaway. Yay! For those of you that don’t know about Shuswap, it is near Salmon Arm, BC’s South interior. From Shuswap, if you drive for about eight more hours, you can reach Alberta! I’ve never been to Alberta, have you? Anyway, from this trip, I’d like to share with you some of the wineries that we went to. This was my first time tasting different kinds of wine inside a vineyard. And let me tell you, these wineries were definitely classy (wine pretty much equals class, doesn’t it?!), rustic, and surrounded by serenely beautiful views. I felt free whilst sipping on wine. Free to stretch, to take pictures and to walk around the beautiful nature.
Well, let’s get to it, the first winery that we went to was called Marionette.

Shirt: A simple tee goes a long way. If you’re wearing light colors, add a darker or brighter color in your ensemble, such a this red t-shirt from H&M, for $9.99! Awesome deal. http://www.hm.com

Jeans: You’ve probably seen me wear this pair before and seriously, I continue to wear them because not only are they still “in,” but the quality’s good too! http://www.mavi.com

Cardi: Every girl needs a good cardigan. One that’s airy yet cozy enough for those breezier days. This one’s woven intricately and with one touch, you can tell that it’s good quality. http://www.getplenty.com

Shoes: I’ve worn these in my previous post as well. http://www.ardene.com

Bag: K, I can not “tell” enough good things about this spacious H&M bag! I’ve had this $39.99 bag for two years now and it seems to keep going and going, like seriously, is it ever going to wear-and-tare? But all jokes aside, this bag’s simple, classy, and perfect for a little trip or a day at work. I’m liking the price too lol. http://www.hm.com

Marionette winery was our first stop of the day!! What do you guys think of this cute little chalkboard menu? My fav wine out of all of these was Pinot Noir, which is a red wine with a little spice to it. Strange of me, as I don’t usually like red wine.

Yum!!! Here I am, with my chipped off nail-polish and a little bit of chapped lips, but I didn’t care, I was so relaxed.

The wine that I’m taste testing here is I believe the strawberry and cream Rose. One thing I noticed is that all of the Rose’s, from the wineries that we went to, was not typically sweet, but instead a little bit more bitter and punchy in its strength. A nice unique twist.

Okay, next stop… Off to award-winning Recline Ridge in Shuswap

This winery was a heavenly retreat for those that love wine. I was told by my sister-in-law, who also loves wine, that this winery offers the most wine tasting that she has ever tried. In other words, they let us try about seventeen wines in one sitting! It was absolutely a treat for someone like me who’s never been to a winery before. You sit there, try all the white wines first, then you try the red wines after.

My favorites: Bacchus: a white, smooth tasting wine; and the two dessert wines in beautifully thin bottles, such as the white Hummingbird’s Kiss, and its sweeter red friend, Ridgeport. Another wine I recommend is the white Kerner, it won gold in 2013. As you can see, I’m usually into white wine. : )

Brandon and I after our long wine sipping at Recline Ridge. I could sit here, drink wine with cheese for a nice long hour, staring unto the beautiful mountains.

Well friends, let’s go to the last winery, Sunnybrae, in Tappen (near Shuswap).

This winery offers a smaller selection of wine-tasting in comparison to our second stop, however this Ortega wine was on sale, buy two and get two for free. How can you go wrong with that, not to mention, when tasting it, it’s a nice sweet wine at first but the sweetness disappears in the end, giving it a two-toned taste.

This vineyard is situated behind a beautiful house, the same house where you taste your wine and look unto the beautiful ocean whilst doing so. The ocean looked so peaceful. I definitely loved the view!

Thanks for reading friends, see you on Sunday! I’ll be promoting and interviewing on Saturday for Vancouver Television (my TV hosting duties which air on SHAW channel 4), so I’ll be posting about that on Sunday evening.

xx,

Nargiza
